Tracking Employee Leaves of Absence
Use the Leave of Absence form to track an employee's leave of absence while maintaining the employee's status of employment at your company. This is used for absences that are not covered by PTO registers.
Note: To set multiple employees on leave of absence at once, see Processing Mass Employee Changes.
Note: The PTO Accruals panel only displays when the following conditions are met:

The entered or selected employee is enrolled in one or more PTO registers. |

You enter a Leave Effective Date that is either the current day or a date before that day. |
To track an employee's leave of absence, do the following:

1.

Enter the Employee by either entering the name, Social Security Number, or ID to display a pop-up list of matching employee records. You can also click the field label or press Ctrl+Enter with your cursor in this field to open the search window. The employee's current status and type display. |

2.

Select the Leave Employment Status for the employee. |
Note: This field displays the full description of the status code, separated by a dash (-) in front of the status code.

3.

Enter the Leave Effective Date. |

4.

Select the Reason Code for the leave of absence. |
|
5.
|
Enter the Planned Return from Leave date when the employee plans to return to work. |

To stop PTO accruals for the employee, select the Stop PTO Accruals field for the PTO Register Type. (The PTO Register Type and PTO Benefit Plan columns display the PTO Register and Plan where the employee is enrolled.) |
Note: After you save this selection and there is a leave of absence approval policy in place, when the leave of absence is approved this setting registers in the Stop PTO Accruals field on the Employee PTO Register form.
Note: Use Reactivation to return an employee to regular employment status.
Actions Menu
You can access information about the Employee's Status history by clicking Status Type History in the Actions menu.
